Sphero is a glowing robotic ball that interacts with the iPhone and responds to its navigational controls. Several apps have already been developed for it, and more are in the making. Currently, you can play old-school games like Pong with a friend, practice your putting before your next round of golf, race it around like a car on a closed course or draw a virtual picture on your phone while dictating its path.

But perhaps the best part about playing with Sphero is the response it'll elicit in pets. Cats in particular are often enthralled by Sphero's antics. It's like a laser pointer times 10. Interested (and, often, infuriated) kitties have been caught on camera eyeballing it, chasing it, cuddling with it, sneering at it, batting it around and staring mesmerizingly down into its glowing crystal ball-like depths. What's not to love about witnessing iPhone-enhanced feline interactions?
